The Retiro neighbourhood has a priviliged location, very close to downtown, to the Salamanca neighbourhood and next to the Retiro park, which is the most important one in Madrid, bordering with the most famous museums in the city, such as the Museo del Prado (Las Meninas de Velásquez, Goya, etc.), the Thyssen (Cezanne, Monet, etc.) and the Reina Sofía (Picasso’s Guernica), besides the Atocha train station which dates from the XIX Century. It is a mostly residential neighbourhood, where people of all ages are brought together and where spacious and good quality flats are found. It keeps its personality as a neighbourhood, with all sorts of shops; little by little it has been filled with clothes, shoes and accesories stores, specially in the area close to the calle Goya. This neighbourhood has an homogeneous design with a grid of wide blocks of 5-to-7 floor buildings, and it has good accessibility and communication through the Metro and buses network.
