Salamanca is a centrical neighbourhood, well connected with the rest of the city, near the park "El Retiro", the biggest and most famous park of Madrid. It is also an important commercial area, with some of the most exclusive brands. It is full of clothes shops, both of expensive brands and big chains, and shoes and bags shops on the calle Goya; and it is surrounded, at a short distance, by "El corte Inglés" centers (the biggest and most famous in Madrid). It also has many bars, restaurants, cafés and cocktail bars. As almost all neighbourhoods in the Salamanca district, it has beautiful buildings from the last century and from the beginning of the XX Century, mixed with more recent constructions from the 60’s, or with old and stately flats. No doubt, Salamanca is one the preferred districts by students and professionals.
